| Core CAL Suite Adds IM, Antimalware |
| Sunday, 10 April 2011 |
|
The Core Client Access License (CAL) Suite will expand to include Lync Server and Forefront Endpoint Protection licenses starting Aug. 1, 2011. The Core CAL Suite licenses clients for Windows Server, Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, and System Center Configuration Manager and plays an important role in Enterprise Agreements (EAs). Expanding the suite will reduce the cost of Microsoft instant messaging (IM) and antivirus offerings for many customers. The change also means higher eventual Software Assurance (SA) subscription rates for existing customers, although some will be able lock in their current rates for a few more years.
