A new preview of System Center 2012 SP1 delivers partial compatibility with Windows Server 8 Beta (a code name) and allows customers to test management of the upcoming server OS. The Mar. 2012 Community Technology Preview (CTP) includes a Data Protection Manager (DPM) update that can back up virtual machines on clustered shared volumes, protect virtual machines on remote SMB shares, and protect file shares that have been enabled for de-duplication.
