| Intune Update Adds Mobile Device Management |
| Friday, 27 July 2012 |
|
The Windows Intune online subscription service for managing PCs was updated in June 2012. Among other changes, the update adds mobile device management for Windows Phone 7, Android, and iOS devices; integrates with Windows Azure Active Directory; adds a self-service portal; and uses the Office 365 infrastructure for managing accounts. The changes will be welcome to customers who want an online management service for all devices, but the mobile device management features depend on an on-premises Exchange installation, and existing customers will have to plan their migration to the updated service.
