The Microsoft Surface RT tablet became available for purchase from Microsoft's physical and online retail stores on Oct. 26, 2012. The ARM-based tablet, which runs the Windows RT OS and includes a non-commercially licensed copy of Office 2013 Home & Student edition, is available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
