Windows Phone 8 was launched in Oct. 2012, and Phone 8 models and an SDK are now available. Phone 8 is supported on more powerful hardware than the previous version (Phone 7.5), including phones with multicore processors, higher screen resolutions, and near-field communication (NFC) capabilities.
