Companies that use laptops should consider upgrading to Windows 2000 Professional, the workstation version of Microsoft's new operating system. For companies currently running Windows 95/98 on their laptops, Windows 2000 Professional significantly improves reliability and security. For companies currently running Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional lowers administration costs and supports new hardware and services. Companies should note, however, that Windows 2000 Professional needs recent laptop hardware, and companies will require certified applications and Windows 2000 Server to get a few of its advertised benefits.
