Jeff Raikes on the Office Business Strategy (Sidebar)

One of the key things that we're doing is evolving our overall approach to really transform the business. You see us moving from Office as the box, as people used to think of it, to Office System, our brand name for the broad range of information worker tools that we're investing in. You see us transitioning from being thought of as client applications to the combination of client, servers, and services to support and enhance information work. You see us transitioning from a focus on document-centric productivity to the combination of personal teams and organizational productivity.

Our competition is really focused in on an attempt to clone our document-centric productivity. But what we see is the opportunity to use integrated innovation as a way to provide new capabilities, really transforming from a focus on document-centric productivity to having Office and the Office brand represent your workspace for personal, team, and organizational productivity.
