In Brief: eLabor to extend, host Project
Aug. 28, 2000

An alliance with eLabor.com will provide Microsoft Project over the Internet and will give it advanced scheduling features. eLabor's Enterprise Project software integrates with Project and provides cross-project labor scheduling, budgeting, and reporting. As part of a recently announced deal with Microsoft, eLabor will fold some of these features into the next version of Microsoft Project, leveraging the "Project Central" collaboration features introduced in Project 2000 (see "Project 2000 Extends Team Management Capabilities" on page 16 of the May 2000 Update). eLabor will also become an application service provider for a hosted version of Project. Microsoft contributed an undisclosed amount to a US$40 million investment in the privately held eLabor as part of the deal; other investors included Lehman Brothers and Brentwood Redpoint. Based in Camarillo, CA, eLabor.com (formerly jeTECH Data Systems) is a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider that offers software and application hosting for workforce scheduling and large-scale project management. Its Web site is www.elabor.com.
