New MSDN Subscription Levels
Jan. 21, 2002

The Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) has reorganized its subscription offerings and is offering various versions of Visual Studio .NET (VS.NET) at different subscription levels. Two new subscription levels have been added, and prices have remained the same or risen slightly.

MSDN previously had three subscription levels—Library, Professional, and Universal. Library and Universal have not been significantly modified, but the Professional service, which previously did not offer Visual Studio, now includes it, at a higher subscription price. Two new subscription levels, MSDN Operating Systems and MSDN Enterprise, offer lower-cost subsets of Professional and Universal, respectively. The Enterprise and Universal subscriptions also offer the Enterprise Developer and Enterprise Architect Editions, respectively, of Visual Studio. These editions include modeling and team development tools missing from the Professional Edition. All software is licensed for development and testing use only.

More information about VS.NET versions is available at msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/prodinfo/features/features.asp. More information about MSDN subscription levels is available at www.msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/prodinfo/levels.asp.
