Changes to Vice Presidents
Jan. 28, 2002

Microsoft has promoted several new vice presidents since Oct. 2001 and changed the duties of some others. For an updated view of Microsoft's organization, see the Feb. 2002 Directions on Microsoft OrgChart.

The changes are as follows:

  • Rogers Weed has been promoted to vice president of Windows product management, where he will oversee the marketing campaigns for Windows XP and other versions of the company's desktop operating systems. Weed, who was formerly the general manager of marketing for the Mobility Group, replaces John Frederiksen. Frederiksen will remain with the company, but his new position has not been determined.
  • Gerri Elliott has been promoted to vice president of the Industry Solutions Group in the U.S. sales subsidiary, where she will oversee field sales, technical, and consulting personnel focused on vertical industries. Elliott replaces Dianne Gregg, who has moved into a new position as vice president of Leadership Initiatives, where she will identify current and future leaders and oversee diversity initiatives in the U.S. subsidiary. Both Elliott and Gregg report to Senior Vice President Kevin Johnson.
  • Mich Mathews's title has changed from vice president of marketing to vice president of the Corporate Marketing Group. She will provide marketing expertise to product groups and continue to oversee corporate positioning and image building efforts. However, she will no longer supervise Vice President Andrew Lees, who is in charge of creating and executing U.S. marketing campaigns. Lees now reports to Kevin Johnson.
  • Alexandra Loeb has been promoted from general manager to vice president of the Tablet PC team. She continues to report to Vice President Dick Brass in the emerging technologies division of the Productivity and Business Services Group.
