Microsoft Xbox games will appear on Nintendo's GameBoy Advance handheld game system under a new licensing agreement between game publisher THQ and Microsoft. The companies did not disclose financial terms, but the deal could dent the losses of the Xbox unit, which competes with Nintendo in the game console market but doesn't have a corresponding handheld gaming platform. (See "Xbox Economics 101" on page 16 of the July 2002 Update.) THQ, which already publishes GameBoy titles such as "Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles," plans to release GameBoy versions of "Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee" and "Monster Truck Madness 2.0" in 2003. THQ also gains the exclusive right to additional Xbox titles for GameBoy; however, many titles for Xbox's predominantly young-adult audience will not appeal to the GameBoy's younger fans. Further information is available at THQ's Web site, www.thq.com.
