Visual J#, Microsoft's Java-language developer tool, has been released. Visual J# (pronounced J-sharp) is an add-on to the Visual Studio.NET development environment that enables developers to use the Java programming language to build applications that run on the .NET Framework and the Common Language Runtime instead of on a Java Virtual Machine. In addition to Visual J#, Microsoft is developing a Java Language Conversion Assistant that translates Java source code into C#, Microsoft’s new programming language for .NET. For more information on Visual J# and the Java Language Conversion Assistant, see "J# Brings Java to .NET" on page 11 of the Nov. 2001 Update and "Conversion Tool to Promote Java Migration" on page 14 of the Mar. 2002 Update. Visual Studio.NET customers can download Visual J# at msdn.microsoft.com/vjsharp/.
