Developing CMS 2002 Templates with Visual Studio .NET
Aug. 19, 2002

Content Management Server (CMS) 2002 uses the Visual Studio .NET development environment. Developers of CMS sites must create templates, which are then used to construct Web pages from content data stored in the CMS database. Each template contains static elements, such as logos, and elements called placeholders (shown in the center pane) that determine where and how the dynamic content is displayed. CMS 2002 extends VS.NET with a toolbox of placeholder controls (shown on the left pane). Developers can drag these controls onto the template, position them where desired, and define any relevant properties for them (shown in the lower right pane).
