Flessner Group for Enterprise Sales
Sep. 23, 2002

The Enterprise Sales Strategy Group and its leader, Vice President Ralph Young, have moved to the .NET Enterprise Servers division. Young's group defines processes, tools, and training for selling integrated solutions to enterprises and specific vertical industries. The shift gives more control over sales strategy to Senior Vice President Paul Flessner, whose organization builds many of the products that go into integrated solutions. Flessner and Senior Vice President Eric Rudder lead Microsoft's server business, one of its seven priority businesses for this year. (See "Seven Core Businesses Explained" on page 28 of the Sept. 2002 Update.) Young's group formerly was part of the Enterprise Partner Group under Charles Stevens, who now reports to Bob Muglia as vice president of marketing for the Storage Business Unit. For more information on Microsoft's solution sales strategy, see "Integrated Solutions Push Server Software Sales" on page 10 of the Jan. 2002 Update.
