Following an early 2004 reorganization, Vice President Kirill Tatarinov has responsibility for all management products and technologies; he in turn reports to Senior Vice President Bob Muglia. Formerly, Tatarinov had responsibility for the stand-alone management products only—Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), and Application Center Server—which made it more difficult to coordinate and resolve issues such as how to integrate management elements in Windows and those provided by server products. As part of the reorganization, Tatarinov gave up direct responsibility for product marketing of management products, which has been centralized under Andrew Lees’ group and is handled by David Hamilton. However, Tatarinov and Hamilton still work closely together.

Responsibility for Virtual Server could also wind up under Tatarinov, but as of Mar. 2004, this decision was not yet final.

Bharat Shah and the Windows team that was working on the Dynamic Systems Initiative (DSI) also report to Kirill now. However, since a big part of DSI will involve future Visual Studio technology, the DSI effort will involve coordination with Soma Somasegar’s Developer Division. Somasegar, Lees, and Muglia all report to Server and Tools Senior Vice President Eric Rudder.
