The following is an illustration accomanying an article published by Directions on Microsoft, an independent research firm focused exclusively on Microsoft strategy & technology. Each month we make one or more key articles available to non-subscribers.
These screen shots show how subscribing to RSS works in Firefox. (Microsoft declined to provide screen shots of how its proposed RSS features will work in Internet Explorer.) On the left, the browser has discovered that the Web page being viewed has an associated RSS feed, as indicated by the orange icon in the lower-right corner. Clicking on the Live Bookmark icon in the status bar displays a pop-up menu that gives the user the option of subscribing to the feed.
Once the user has subscribed, the list of new articles appears in the toolbar, as shown on the right.
