Outlook 2007 allows senders to classify a message they create or forward, and then prominently displays a warning message attached to the e-mail in the recipient's inbox. The Set Permission menu in the Outlook ribbon lists the available classifications configured by an administrator for use within the company. By selecting A/C Privileged (for attorney-client privilege), the sender causes the A/C Privileged warning message listed just below the Ribbon to appear on the recipient's Outlook 2007 client. The organization can also create transport rules based on message classifications, such as preventing messages classified as A/C Privileged from being forwarded to recipients outside the legal department.

The same capabilities are also available to users of Exchange 2007's Outlook Web Access client for browser users.
