Office 2010 vs. Office Web Apps (Chart)

Office Web Apps do not offer the same features as the Office 2010 desktop applications. When used in conjunction with a SharePoint 2010 server, Office Web Apps offer browser-based read-write access to Office files stored on that server. In most cases, Office Web Apps offer a subset of Office 2010 features, with one exception: Excel Web App supports simultaneous editing ("coauthoring") while Excel 2010 does not. This chart shows some differences. A checkmark means the feature is fully supported, and a blank box means the feature is missing. Partial support is noted in the text. (For detailed information about new features in Office 2010, such as Sliders and Sparklines in Excel, see Microsoft's Office 2010 beta site at officebeta.microsoft.com.)
