The first beta of Visual Studio LightSwitch, a lightweight development environment for data-driven business applications, is now available. The new tool, expected to be released in 2011, simplifies the building of certain types of applications such as those that support entering, viewing, and modifying data stored in SQL Server, SQL Azure, SharePoint, and other databases.
