Xbox Music, a new service for streaming, purchasing, and storing music across multiple Microsoft platforms, was launched in Oct. 2012. Xbox Music, a successor to Microsoft's Zune music service, will offer ad-based free music streaming from a library of about 30 million songs on Windows 8 and Windows RT devices (despite the Xbox branding) when they become available in late Oct. 2012.
