Robust Quarterly Earnings Reported

Microsoft revenues for the fiscal 2000 second quarter (ending Dec. 31, 1999) were US$6.11 billion, an 18% increase over the US$5.20 billion reported for the same quarter a year ago. Net income and earnings per share (EPS) reached US$2.44 billion and US$0.44 respectively, a 22% increase compared to US$1.98 billion income and US$0.36 EPS in the corresponding fiscal 1999 quarter. Second quarter’s earnings include a one-time charge of approximately US$0.03 per share related to the settlement of a lawsuit with Caldera; excluding this charge, EPS would have been US$0.47.
