In Brief: New CE developer tools get public beta

• Microsoft has released beta 1 of its first stand-alone application development environment for Windows CE. CE Studio 3.0 is a toolkit that enables developers to write Windows CE applications on a Windows NT 4.0 workstation. Unlike previous Windows CE toolkits, which were add-ons for Visual Studio, CE Studio is a complete development environment with an editor, compilers for the Visual C++ and Visual Basic languages, and a debugger. Beta 1 of CE Studio can build Handheld PC Professional applications in both of its programming languages and Palm-size PC applications in C++.
