Licensing Relaxed for Exchange Multi-Mailbox Search

The Multi-Mailbox Search feature introduced in Exchange Server 2010 will no longer require an Exchange Enterprise Client Access License (ECAL) as of Oct. 2012. (The change was announced in July 2012, but the effective date was later clarified by Microsoft.) Multi-Mailbox Search allows authorized personnel to perform organization-wide searches on e-mail, calendar, task, and contact items, including items stored in a user's Personal Archive. Items located by a search can be moved to a separate mailbox for retention.
