In Brief: Free Service Replaces MSN Rebate

Microsoft will discontinue its rebate program for MSN Internet Access this spring. The program, which offers retail customers a US$400 in-store rebate when they sign up for three years of MSN Internet Access, was begun in 1999 as a response to similar programs from AOL and other ISPs. The rebate program will be replaced by an offer of one free year of MSN Internet Access to customers who buy PC models chosen by participating retailers.
