Azure Premium Storage Released

Azure Premium Storage became generally available in Apr. 2015 and joins the existing Azure Standard Storage offering for data storage. Premium Storage is designed for Azure virtual machine (VM) workloads that require consistent high performance. For example, Premium Storage is suitable for I/O-intensive SQL Server instances that support enterprise resource planning applications, such as Dynamics AX and SAP. Premium Storage uses solid-state drives (SSDs) and caching techniques that take advantage of a VM's memory and the attached SSDs to provide low latency and high throughput.
