Version Downgrade

A version downgrade is a substitution right, allowing a customer who owns a license for a specific version and edition of an (on-premises) product to deploy an older version of the same (or equivalent) edition instead. Most on-premises product licenses include a version downgrade use right, with the time gap between version releases a function of the product’s servicing model(s). If a license also offers down edition rights, the two rights can be combined to downgrade to an earlier version of a different edition of the product.
