RMS (Rights Management Services) is a Windows Server role that encrypts e-mails, files, and other types of content to prevent access by unauthorized users, including content moved to an unsecured file sharing service or shared by e-mail. RMS-enabled client applications can selectively enforce restrictions (e.g., "do not print") for particular users. RMS protection travels with content, so RMS can continue to protect content in unsecured file sharing services or shared by e-mail. RMS is licensed by a Windows Server additive CAL (Client Access Licenses) called a RMS CAL
