Current Branch

Current Branch is the name of a servicing model previously offered for the Windows client OS and Windows Server that delivered new product versions two to three times a year. Security updates and other critical reliability fixes are available for a limited period (typically 12-24 months) after a particular Current Branch becomes generally available, so organizations must frequently move to new branches to retain support. The Current Branch servicing model is being replaced by SAC (Semi-Annual Channel) model for all products other than System Center Configuration Manager.
