Premium Assurance

Premium Assurance, a support offering launched in 2017 and phased out in 2018, was designed to provide critical and important security updates and bulletins for 2008 and later versions of SQL Server and Windows Server for up to six years beyond the conclusion of Extended Support. This special support-related add-on license, announced in Dec. 2016 and available for purchase starting March 2017, required SA (Software Assurance) as prerequisite and covered SQL Server and Windows Server only; it was not offered for other on-premises server or desktop products.
