Exchange Server

The Exchange Server software provides e-mail communication and manages calendars, contacts, and tasks. It delivers a browser interface (Outlook on the Web) and works with a variety of Microsoft and third-party clients.

Microsoft's e-mail development now focuses on the Exchange Online hosted service, which shares code with the on-premises server software but receives new features and other updates before the on-premises software does. Exchange Server installations can coexist with Exchange Online in a hybrid configuration, with some users hosted on-premises and others online.
