Windows Server Roles in Azure Virtual Machines

Most Windows Server roles are supported for use in Azure VMs. However, many roles are redundant to, or would not interoperate well with, existing infrastructure used by Azure VMs. This includes DHCP, Rights Management Services, and Windows Deployment Services.

The Hyper-V role is supported in a limited number of Azure VM sizes, enabling use of the Hyper-V and Container Host Windows Server roles. Most Azure VMs do not support the Hyper-V server role.
