SQL Server 2012 Receives Fourth and Final Service Pack

SQL Server 2012 SP4 delivers a variety of fixes and enhancements made since the Dec. 2015 release of SP3, including improvements to performance and scaling and troubleshooting features. Typically, a final service pack (SP) is released at the end of Mainstream support, which was July 11, 2017, for SQL Server 2012. However, Microsoft delayed SQL Server 2012 SP4 until Oct. 5, 2017, to include features that allow SQL Server 2012 to leverage newer hardware processors that help it perform faster and scale further than previously available.
