PowerShell Core 6.0 Generally Available

PowerShell Core 6.0, the latest version of Microsoft's cross-platform administrative scripting technology, became generally available on Jan. 10, 2018. Administrators who use PowerShell to manage services like Active Directory and Exchange, as well as hosted services in Azure and Office 365, will want to become familiar with PowerShell Core, as future enhancements will likely come in that edition. PowerShell Core is open source, based on .NET Core, and available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
