Extended Security Updates for SQL Server and Windows Server

A new offering could give customers security updates on some server products after they pass their original support end-of-life dates. Extended support expires on SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 on July 9, 2019, and Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 on Jan. 14, 2020. After these dates, customers will be able to obtain Extended Security Updates from Microsoft for an additional three years.
