Microsoft to Control Future Data Centers in Germany

Customers will be able to use new data centers in Germany for Azure workloads in the fourth quarter of 2019, Office 365 in the first quarter of 2020, and Dynamics 365 sometime in 2020. Unlike Microsoft's current German data centers, which use Deutsche Telekom as a trustee to protect customer data, Microsoft will manage and operate the new sites directly. Management by Microsoft allows the new data centers to offer hosted services consistent with Microsoft's global offerings, while complying with the German Cloud Computing Compliance Controls Catalogue (C5) certification.
