Microsoft Joins Open Invention Network

Microsoft has joined the Open Invention Network (OIN) Linux patent clearinghouse and contributed a portfolio of some 60,000 patents. The move reinforces the company's support for using Linux with Azure, SQL Server, and other Microsoft technologies. OIN facilitates the sharing of patent rights among members for "Linux System" technologies, which include the Linux kernel and related open-source software packages identified on the OIN Web site.
