A five-year period, beginning at the point a new version of an on-premises product becomes generally available, where Microsoft provides customers with free security and nonsecurity updates, offers break/fix support as part of paid support contracts, and entertains product design change requests. A more restrictive multiyear Extended Support phase follows.
