SQL Server 2019 Extends Life of 2008, 2008 R2 Databases

SQL Server 2019 continues support for SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 databases, which could help customers extend the life of older applications and defer the need to upgrade databases and associated applications. SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2, which left Extended support July 9, 2019, and will become increasingly difficult and costly to keep secure, and customers should have migration plans to move to more current versions. Unlike other server products, SQL Server does not require databases and server software to be on the same version.
