Azure SQL Database Previews Hardware Choice for High-End Workloads

Azure SQL Database, Microsoft’s hosted database service, is previewing the ability to choose specific types of hardware for intensive databases that need high-end compute or memory levels. The hardware choices (Fsv2 and M) correspond to Azure VM families. Fsv2 series hardware provides low CPU latency and high clock speed for CPU-intensive workloads, while M series hardware provides memory-optimized options for memory-intensive workloads. The choices will help database administrators select deployment options that better match the performance needs of their databases.
