Mandatory and Optional Edge Settings

Windows 10 Edge includes settings that can be managed by policy. This screen shot shows a portion of the Windows 10 Local Group Policy (GP) Snap-in in a Microsoft Management Console. The Edge setting “Set Microsoft Edge as default browser” is a mandatory setting, and if centrally managed using Group Policy, a user cannot override the setting. In contrast, those Edge settings under “Microsoft Edge—Default Settings (users can override)” (bottom), can be changed by the user, even if managed centrally.
