Azure Data Lake Archive Tier Released

Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) Gen 2, a highly scalable Big Data storage offering, now offers an Archive tier for rarely accessed data that could help reduce storage costs; however, it should only be used for long-term storage as reading from Archive is costly. ADLS uses Azure Storage Blobs as its back-end data storage solution, which provides three tiers of storage: Hot (frequently read and written), Cool (infrequently accessed), and now Archive (long-term storage). Costs are based on several factors, including storage size, storage tier, and number of transactions.
