Customers are likely to increasingly see the terms “XDR,” “Microsoft 365 Defender,” and "Azure Defender," but what do they mean? Extended detection and response (XDR) is a term used by analysts and some in the industry to describe inputs across a range of traditionally stand-alone security tools, surfaced together in a usable form that is likely to be more powerful than the sum of its parts.
