Azure Blockchain’s Quick Retirement: A Cautionary Tale

Azure Blockchain will retire on Sept. 10, 2021 (a four-month notice), requiring customers to quickly migrate data and ledgers to alternative offerings and modify and test dependent applications. The service includes several components that collectively support building and running consortium and private blockchains. Blockchain has been available in preview since 2016 but never reached general availability, leading Microsoft to forgo the 12-month notice typically given when a service is retired without a replacement.
