SQL Server 2016 Leaves Mainstream but Final SP Planned

SQL Server 2016 leaves Mainstream support on July 13, 2021, but Microsoft has announced a final service pack (SP), planned for Sept. 2021, that will contain bug fixes, security patches, and some new features. During Mainstream support, organizations can receive free security and nonsecurity updates, request product design changes and features, and purchase paid support contracts.
