Exchange Online: EWS Shutdown Could Break Apps

Applications using Exchange Web Services (EWS) with Exchange Online face breaking changes and a lockout of new applications by Sept. 2022. EWS is a set of APIs used by many custom applications (and some no-longer-supported Microsoft mail clients) to remotely access Exchange mailbox data. EWS is being replaced by Microsoft Graph APIs for access to Exchange Online. According to a plan announced in Oct. 2021, Exchange Online will shut down a set of 25 EWS functions for meeting scheduling, unified messaging, delegate management, and other purposes on Mar. 31, 2022.
