RoadmapPolicy Roadmap
Azure Policy is a free service that is critical for deployment governance, and it should be included in Azure customer planning and processes. It allows IT managers to delegate Azure resource provisioning to users such as developers while ensuring security, cost, and compliance requirements. Hundreds of built-in policies shorten the required time investment in the service by reducing the need for custom policy implementations.

New capabilities for exemptions are in private preview. These include the ability to exempt specific users and types of accounts, such as service principals and managed identities, from policy enforcement.
IP filtering, in private preview, allows a policy to enforce whether actions can be performed on a resource based on the IP address of the account requesting the action. This feature could be used to prevent critical actions, such as a database delete, from being performed by users who are not connected to a secured network.
