RoadmapIoT Services and Software Roadmap
Azure IoT services and software monitor and control IoT devices, such as sensors, equipment controllers, and telemetry components, at large scale. The services can speed development and deployment of applications for tasks such as fleet management, predictive maintenance of equipment, or monitoring and control for smart buildings, manufacturing plants, oil platforms, and hospitals, and similar environments within organizations that require large numbers of intelligent devices.

Near Term (2025–2026)
Because it runs on devices that are often in hard-to-reach locations, Azure IoT Edge is updated roughly every two years, with the next version not due until 2026.
Other IoT services have enhancements that are currently in preview with general availability likely coming within the next 12 months.
Azure IoT Operations currently supports K3s (a lightweight Kubernetes environment) on Ubuntu 24.04 only. Support for Azure Kubernetes Services on both Windows 11 IoT Enterprise and Azure Local is in preview.
