Exchange Server SE, SharePoint Server SE, and Skype for Business Server SE will all qualify for Microsoft product support through at least 2035. Many customers have not been able to migrate to Microsoft 365 cloud services for collaboration due to regulatory compliance, application compatibility, or other concerns. The SE support policy, announced Aug. 5, 2025 offers these customers free security updates, documentation, and other management support if they maintain sufficient active subscription licenses or Software Assurance (SA) on the software.Customers should still migrate off the SE software well before 2035, because events between now and then could  break features or even render SE software unusable. (See the illustration “Life-Shortening Events for Exchange Server SE.”) Moreover, Microsoft will continue to invest in the Microsoft 365 cloud services while leaving the SE software unchanged. That will widen a technical gap between the services and the software and make migration much more difficult.
