  • Customers can use  the Windows 365 for Agents service to set up virtual desktops for agentic applications that automate manual tasks.
  • The service will appeal to departments and other customers that want quick deployment and limited up-front investment.
  • Licensing costs of solutions will be hard to predict.
  • Monitoring Windows 365 for Agents can help find “shadow AI” projects.

The Windows 365 for Agents service delivers virtual desktops (Cloud PCs) for agentic applications to do tasks on Windows. For example, an AI reporting application might use Windows 365 for Agents to copy data from the user interface of a  custom desktop application. AI agents with access to desktop PCs could streamline business processes that today are slowed by manual steps in desktop applications. Departments will like the fast deployment, good scalability, and low-touch infrastructure of Windows 365 for Agents. But those qualities also speed risky “shadow AI” projects, and licensing a solution can bring unwanted surprises.
