The Host Integration Server (HIS) software enables organizations to integrate IBM mainframe and midrange applications with applications and cloud services on Microsoft platforms. A planned new version will offer more options to connect IBM hosts with AI and Web services on the Microsoft platform. However, the version will also break existing solutions that depend on legacy Microsoft technologies.

Product: Host Integration Server

Licensing: BizTalk Server

Near-Term Roadmap (2026-2027)

A major new version, HIS 2028, is available in an early adopter program and planned for release “in the coming year,” according to Microsoft. The new version will enable developers to build agents that access mainframe and midrange host applications. Support for Entra ID and Web APIs will also enhance support for host integration with cloud services. Newly supported Microsoft technologies include the following:

  • Foundry agents
  • Entra ID identities
  • Web (REST) APIs
